When have you ever seen the elements of the physical universe beautifully represented as fantasy characters?

Fiber optics depend on erbium, to take the stream of photons and make it brighter with the electrons it has hoarded. An impurity of erbium will also turn glass pink, so I had to seek out a pink-ish frog; and I found the thorny tree frog, who has freckles that look fiberoptic-ish, not to mention is an absolute delight.
